Guide to Stylish Motherhood

Being pregnant doesn't mean that you stop wanting to look stylish, or that you will want to buy clothes only to throw them away the moment the baby is here.

Adhering to our principle of buying less but buying better we thought we would share a few tips from the moms in our team (including our creative director) to help you maximize a wardrobe that can be worn for seasons to come.

Some Tips for You

For the Warm Weather

Cotton dresses in loose shapes will look great whether you have a baby bump or just want to lounge on the beach. We also found many modest brands that create great linen robes or embroidered dresses we would usually wear for special holidays are a great choice as they usually come with adjustable belts and look effortlessly chic. Korean fashion brands also have amazing selections but it takes some searching and see if they deliver to your postal code.

For Warm to Cold Weather

Mules and backless shoes are a must as well as easy sandals. As some moms-to-be will change their shoe size to slightly bigger during pregnancy, we recommend easy to get out of shoes. And if you are in colder weather slip on boots that are plenty roomy or suede slippers with matching socks will look quirky but cute and won't have you struggling when heading out of the house.

All your oversize button-down shirts or tunics will be so handy when dressing up for the office or if you just are not in the mood to rock a dress. Pair with stretchy pregnancy jeans (buy L or XL as your little bump will grow in ways you can't envision yet) that have adjustable inner lopped belts; they are easy to adjust and there are infinite styles on Amazon.

For the Cold Weather

Invest in a few oversize sweaters (our creative director went for men's pieces) that are chic and seasonless. A turtleneck never goes out of style but the best part of an oversize piece is that it can be worn as a tunic over leggings or dressed up over your loose button shirts for a smart look.

Some sites that we love to help you seamlessly transition whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or post-pregnancy: A Pea in The Pod, Isabella Oliver, Ingrid + Isabel, Bumpsuit, AnthropologieUniversal Standard, and Hot Milk Lingerie.
