Let’s toast to something warmer, love, straight out of the winter blues.
It doesn’t matter what your relationship status is – whether it be single or in a relationship, love is always something worth celebrating between us all. After all, we are the first person we wake up to, and the last person we say goodnight to.
In light of this, MDLR celebrates love on a global scale, and with an inclusive sight. Doesn’t matter if you will gift yourself a nice treat or a solo dinner, we want to know how you define love for yourself (whether it be belting Adele’s ballads, or spending the night with your loved one) because at MDLR, we sure do have a lot of love for you
So, to our dearest romantics, here comes our monthly gift to you: a pond of love stories to warm your heart (and ours) for this season.
Bridget Jones & Her Diary
You might have not expected this, but to us, Bridget Jones and her diary are our number one couple. Let’s face it, most of us have put in “Journaling” in our New Year’s Resolutions for many years, and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t.
However, we assure you that this year, Journaling is something we all should encourage each other to do; as journaling allows you to delve deep into your innermost self – it sheds a light on parts of yourself and your life that need a little more loving attention.
This year, let’s learn from Bridget Jones and cherish the relationship we have with ourselves.
Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp
The whirlwind romance of Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder just leaves you asking, “what if?”
They say you don’t truly know love until it bites you back. In their case, we could say, you don’t know love until you’ve got it tattooed on you! The MDLR Team was debating if any of you have ever done something similar to this because some of us did. Having a tattoo that is constantly reminding you of the love you lost, and then having it removed is like a simile to the crazy stupid young love that we’ve all at least experienced once in our lifetime.
Victoria and David Beckham
Whatever your opinion of this couple is, you can’t help but wonder what is their secret to lasting this long.
These two lovebirds have surfed the 90s in many shapes and forms and are still going strong now The MDLR Team still remembers when he oxygenated his hair, and when Victoria was still Posh Spice instead of Victoria Beckham. Much has been said of the Beckhams (even divorce!) – even though the gossip and talk about them, they seem to know how to spice up their life, don’t you agree?
Ellen De Generes and Portia De Rossi
When they met, Portia described it as “love at first sight” in this interview. Portia, known for her role in the iconic 90s series Ally McBeal, had not come out yet to the world as a lesbian.
In an in-depth interview with Oprah Winfrey, Portia explains her fears when it comes to pursuing her love for Ellen, she states “I was closeted and very, very afraid that if I talked about being gay, it would be the end of my career”. Note that this happened over a decade ago, and their love brought in a new representation of love for us all today.
Channing Tatum’s “Dog, Lulu”
The MDLR Team’s fifth favorite couple describes the perfect relationship between our furry friends and ourselves; the movie Dog, starring Channing Tatum perfectly describes that dynamic.
Did we debate about which pet should be included in the list? Yes, we debated cats, birds, and even an octopus (thanks to My Octopus Teacher by Roger Horrocks)! Here at MDLR we just love animals, but we had to make a decision. Through this movie, we found that the journey of life can be even more fulfilling if we have a loyal companion by our side, which doesn’t have to be another human. “Dog” taught us to let down our guard, and keep being resilient in life, as happiness is always awaiting us.
Now, those are only the 5 stories we have so far, but we’re sure you have some interesting ones of your own, and we’d love to hear more about your unique love stories soon! Let’s keep this loving chapter open, as we would be more than happy to hear what you know about love.
