A Dapper Take on Halloween

Halloween is literally around the corner. While trick or treating is not in the books this year, we are rounding up our ultimate low key Halloween. Don't worry, it doesn't involve carving a pumpkin nor dressing up in a costume. Our take for this year's Halloween festivity involves a bourbon in hand, a book on another and some fine tunes to listen to.

READ: Rebecca or Poirot

Whether you are into reading a Gothic romantic thriller or a mystery drama novel, we have got you covered.

Rebecca was originally written by the English author Daphne du Maurier in 1938 is deliciously dark and sumptuous. While working as the companion to a rich American woman on holiday in Monte Carlo, a naïve young woman in her early 20s, becomes acquainted with a wealthy Englishman, Maximilian "Maxim" de Winter, a 42-year-old widower. After a fortnight of courtship, she agrees to marry him and, after the wedding and honeymoon, accompanies him to his mansion in Cornwall, the beautiful estate Manderley. As the new Mrs. de Winter adapt to her new life, she is conflicted with many secrets inside the estate, whilst trying to live up to the perfection of the late Rebecca de Winter.

Intrigued? If you are like us, we decided to watch the latest and modern adaptation of Rebecca on Netflix directed by Ben Wheatley.

Another novel we highly recommend is Agatha Christie's Poirot, it was famously known as the last novel published before the author's death.

The novel features Hercule Poirot and Arthur Hastings, it is a country house novel, with all the characters and the murder set in one house. Not only does the novel return the characters to the setting of her first, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, but it reunites Poirot and Hastings, who last appeared together in Dumb Witness in 1937. It was adapted for television in 2013 and was aired in Canada & the United States of America.

LISTEN: Dapper Earparty

Our team has created a very special Halloween edition playlist for you to listen and kick back to. We called it the Dapper Earparty, show tunes from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Patti Page to Sam Smith and Harry Styles, we are certain you will get into your best Don Draper groove on.

So tell us, what are you favorite things to do during this time of year? We are all ears.
